Job description

Responsible for managing the food repackaging operations in Malaysia and overseeing the procurement of imported food products and packaging materials. This role ensures all products comply with Malaysian food regulations and Halal requirements (JAKIM) while achieving targets for quality, cost, and delivery to support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage food repackaging operations
• Oversee daily operations of in-house or third‑party repackaging facilities
• Ensure repackaging activities comply with Halal (JAKIM), GMP, and food safety requirements
• Prevent cross‑contamination and ensure proper handling of Halal products
• Monitor repackaging efficiency, output, wastage, and quality performance
• Manage repackaging issues, quality deviations, and corrective/preventive actions
• Support new product introductions, packaging format changes, and process improvements
• Manage procurement of imported food products for local repackaging
• Ensure all imported products comply with Malaysian regulations and Halal requirements
• Manage overseas/local suppliers on pricing, quality, delivery, and compliance
• Ensure complete and accurate import documentation
• Coordinate with logistics partners and customs agents to ensure smooth importation
• Manage sourcing and procurement of packaging materials
• Ensure packaging materials comply with food contact and Halal related requirements
• Develop, evaluate, and manage local / overseas packaging suppliers
• Drive cost optimisation initiatives while maintaining quality standards
• Support Halal certification, audits, and renewal processes
• Maintain and manage Halal and food safety documentation for products and suppliers
• Ensure product labelling complies with Malaysian regulatory requirements
• Manage inventory of imported food products, packaging materials, and finished goods
• Control expiry, slow‑moving stock, and out‑of‑stock risks
• Collaborate with sales and planning teams to support demand planning / S&OP
• Ensure accuracy of purchasing and inventory data in systems
• Lead and develop purchasing and repackaging‑related team members
• Work closely with Quality, Regulatory, Logistics, Sales and Finance teams
• Drive cross‑functional issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Supply Chain, Operations Management or related fields
• Minimum 5 years of experience in FMCG food operations
• Experience in imported food procurement
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian food regulations and Halal (JAKIM) requirements
• Good understanding of food packaging, labelling and basic GMP principles
• Strong supplier management, negotiation and cost control skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel/BI etc
• Familiar with imported food customs clearance and labelling compliance
