Job summary

A manufacturing company in Johor, Malaysia is looking for a Procurement Specialist to manage the full procurement process, coordinate with production, and conduct market research. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of purchasing experience, a Bachelor's degree, and proficiency in SAP and Excel. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential, along with the ability to work under pressure. Mandarin proficiency is a plus. Alton Intelligent Technology Sdn. Bhd. is wholly foreign-owned by Alton Industry Ltd. Group, a US-based global supplier of household products and industrial tools, with a total land area of 45.25 acres.

The base in Malaysia has established a comprehensive complex of six full-featured factories. These factories integrate motor assembly, sheet metal processing, injection moulding, general assembly lines, and automated intelligent warehousing.

In addition to the core production and storage areas, it also carefully designed a five-story modern office building, two three‑story canteens and activity centers full of life, and four five‑story dormitory buildings.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Coordinate with the production department to develop material procurement plans based on production schedules and inventory levels, ensuring uninterrupted production.
• Manage the full procurement process: issue purchase orders, maintain SAP system records, track delivery status, handle urgent orders, and ensure suppliers meet on‑time delivery targets.
• Conduct market research to identify and evaluate suppliers, establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, and ensure effective communication with existing partners.
• Implement cost control strategies through price comparison, negotiation, and cost analysis; participate in or lead pricing and contract negotiations.
• Monitor inventory turnover and collaborate with the warehouse team to manage obsolete materials and scrap disposal.
• Support the qualification of new material samples, coordinate with the quality team for incoming inspections, and resolve quality disputes, returns, and claims.
• Prepare regular procurement reports and contribute to the standardization and continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or above; major not restricted.
• At least 1 year of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. Outstanding candidates without purchasing experience (including fresh graduates) who are proficient in Mandarin may also be considered.
• Proficient in SAP and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Solid understanding of cost breakdown and negotiation strategies; candidates with experience in independently signing procurement contracts will be given preference.
• Strong sense of responsibility, able to work under pressure with a proactive and diligent attitude.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with flexibility, principled decision‑making, and proven negotiation ability.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage for effective teamwork.
