Job description

The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager, Assistant Pharmacy Manager, and Senior Pharmacist(s) in the daily management of the Pharmacy Department in ensuring efficient and effective operation as well as cost-effective utilization of drugs for the hospital.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To interpret, prepare and dispense drug prescriptions for all patients and to maintain appropriate records for hospital use and legislative purpose.
  2. To perform drug counseling when required.
  3. To supervise the day-to-day running of Pharmacy Department and ensure conformance of practice towards hospital policy and local legislations.
  4. To supervise Pharmacy Assistants, Technicians and other support staff in the preparation of drug orders, provision of pharmacy services and other related duties.
  5. To conduct training for departmental staff, nursing personnel, members of the public including performance evaluation for Pharmacy staff.
  6. To be able to provide up to date drug information to the medical practitioners, other healthcare providers and members of the public.
  7. To be responsible for the storage, control, documentation and supply of Psychotropic, Dangerous Drugs and Controlled Drugs and proper maintenance of records.
  8. To maintain adequate inventory level at all outlets of Pharmacy and minimize wastage.
  9. To monitor and manage inventory movement at assigned unit.
  10. To coordinate and participate in stock take exercise as scheduled by the hospital.
  11. To establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships with all medical providers.
  12. To keep professionally up-dated with current trends, research and developments in field of practice.
  13. To participate in the Pharmacy “on-call” roster when applicable.
  14. To participate in the rotation roster between outpatient and in-patient pharmacy or other satellite units.
  15. To support the Hospital Administration in the preparation, documentation and implementation of any program towards the accreditation of JCI, ISO, MSQH and any other quality system accreditation.
  16. You are responsible to be engaged in the department and Hospital quality indicators related tasks or activities.
  17. To perform any additional assignments and duties as assigned by the immediate superior or Pharmacy Manager.
