Job description
About the job Molding Process Supervisor | Senai
Job Responsibilities:

(1) Mold Repair Management

  • Lead the fault diagnosis, repair plan formulation, and on-site execution for die casting molds (e.g., aluminum/zinc alloy molds), stamping molds (e.g., progressive/single stamping dies), and injection molds (e.g., hot runner/cold runner molds).
  • Ensure repaired molds meet production precision and lifespan requirements (e.g., first die casting trial without flash or scratches, injection molding cycle time within target).
  • Establish mold repair standard operating procedures (SOPs), define critical dimensional tolerances (e.g., fitting clearance, cavity surface roughness), and acceptance procedures (e.g., CMM inspection, trial mold validation).
  • Work with the production department to establish mold usage archives, track high-frequency failure molds (e.g., easily worn sliders, frequently broken ejector pins), and develop periodic maintenance plans (e.g., polishing, lubrication, fastening) to reduce unexpected breakdowns.

(2) Equipment and Process Management

  • Proficient in operating and setting parameters for core mold maintenance equipment (e.g., CNC machining centers, EDM machines, wire cutting machines, grinders, milling machines).
  • Guide staff in proper equipment use, organize regular inspections and maintenance (e.g., rail lubrication, electrode calibration), ensuring machine utilization 90%.
  • For complex mold repairs (e.g., deep-cavity machining, small ejector hole restoration), lead process optimization (e.g., multi-axis programming, special tool selection), introduce new technologies/tools (e.g., high-speed cutting, precision EDM parameters), and improve maintenance efficiency by over 20% (based on company targets).

(3) Personnel Management and Team Development

  • Responsible for attendance, performance, training, and safety supervision of mold workshop personnel. Develop Work Operation Standards and Safety Procedures (e.g., stamping equipment protection, hot mold hoisting), conduct regular skill assessments and emergency drills (e.g., mold lifting accident handling).
  • Based on production mold demand urgency (e.g., line stoppage, preventive repair), assign tasks reasonably to technicians/operators (CNC programming, EDM operation, bench fitting).
  • Track progress through daily meetings/kanban boards, ensuring emergency mold repairs are completed within 24 hours and regular maintenance within 48-72 hours (adjust per company standards).
  • Conduct regular technical sharing sessions (e.g., new mold material properties, new equipment functions).
  • Implement mentorship programs for new staff.

(4) Cross-Department Collaboration and Cost Control

Job Requirements:
  • Diploma or above in Mechanical Design and Manufacturing, Mold Design and Manufacturing, Material Forming and Control Engineering, or related fields preferred.
  • Over 8 years of mold repair/processing experience (including at least 3 years in team management).
  • Proficient in die casting, stamping, and injection mold structures and repair technologies.
  • Familiar with CNC, EDM, grinding machine operations and basic programming (e.g., Mastercam, UG).
  • Experience as a mold workshop supervisor in large manufacturing companies.
  • Led complex mold repair projects (e.g., multi-cavity injection molds, large die-casting molds).
  • Familiar with IATF16949/ISO9001 quality management systems is an advantage.
  • Familiar with mold steel properties (e.g., H13, SKD11) and heat treatment requirements.

Additional Information:

  • Workplace: Mold workshop (normal temperature / partial high-temperature areas, mechanical noise, and oil exposure).
  • Mainly day shift (8:30-5:30), with overtime/shift work as required by production needs.
