A manufacturing firm in Johor Bahru is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Process Engineer to develop and validate new processes, optimize existing molding operations, and collaborate with toolmakers. Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3 years of hands-on experience in injection molding. The role involves ensuring product quality and efficiency while providing technical expertise for tooling and automation systems. Strong knowledge of polymer materials and problem-solving methodologies is essential.
Develop and validate new injection molding processes for new products and tooling.
Optimize existing molding processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time, and maintain product quality.
Establish machine parameters for production runs and maintain process documentation.
Diagnose and resolve molding issues such as flash, short shots, burn marks, sink marks, and warpage.
Provide on-site technical expertise for molding equipment, mold performance, and automation systems.
Collaborate with toolmakers on mold design, modifications, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Evaluate mold designs for manufacturability and recommend improvements.
Support installation, setup, and qualification of new molds and auxiliary equipment.
Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Collaborate with quality engineers to conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Support development of control plans, FMEA, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in new product introduction (NPI) initiatives and cross-functional project teams.
Maintain documentation including process sheets, setup sheets, and validation reports.
Train molding technicians and operators on molding practices and equipment operation.
Diploma/Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in injection molding process engineering; hands on experience required.
Strong knowledge of polymer materials, mold design, and processing principles.
Experience with scientific molding / decoupled molding (RJG, Paulson certification preferred).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies.
Ability to read technical drawings, GD&T, and mold flow analysis.
Hands‑on experience with injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
