A leading engineering firm in Malaysia seeks a Fire Systems Project Manager for data center projects. The role involves overseeing the integration of mechanical systems including cooling and fire suppression, ensuring compliance with standards, and managing project execution from design to commissioning. The Mechanical CSA Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the civil, structural, and architectural integration of mechanical systems within mission-critical data centers. This role ensures that cooling, HVAC, fire suppression, and other mechanical infrastructure are designed, installed, and maintained in compliance with global standards, while supporting uptime, scalability, and safety.
Lead CSA-related mechanical projects from design through commissioning, ensuring alignment with data center requirements.
Manage site preparation, foundations, drainage, and utility connections for mechanical equipment.
Ensure structural supports, steelwork, and load-bearing elements accommodate heavy mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, generators).
Oversee layouts, enclosures, and access pathways for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
Coordinate installation and integration of HVAC, cooling, fire suppression, and piping systems.
Ensure adherence to local building codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, and data center standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ISO).
Oversee contractors and suppliers delivering CSA-related mechanical infrastructure.
Identify risks to uptime and implement redundancy strategies for mechanical systems.
Maintain accurate project records, drawings, and compliance documentation. Perform audits and commissioning activities to verify performance, reliability, and compliance. Support integrated testing and handover to operations teams.
Provide regular updates to facility managers, IT leadership, consultants, and compliance teams. Act as the primary point of contact for fire systems–related matters throughout the project lifecycle.
