This is a full-time, on-site role based in Senai, Johor, reporting to the leadership team at Aeronas Aerocraft Sdn Bhd, a leading provider of aviation design and manufacturing. The Manager, Facilities Design & Architecture is the Facilities Design Authority for Aeronas, accountable for the planning, design, and development of all company facilities nationwide.
This role ensures that all Aeronas facilities—including manufacturing plants, hangars, workshops, offices, R&D centres, and future aerospace hubs—are strategically planned, operationally efficient, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with aircraft engineering, manufacturing processes, and long-term business objectives.
The role combines architectural leadership, infrastructure planning, and strategic master planning, and serves as the main point of accountability for facility design decisions across the organization.
What you’ll be doing
Facilities Design Authority
- Act as the main design authority for all facility and infrastructure developments across Aeronas
- Own and approve facility design intent, architectural direction, and master planning strategies
- Establish and enforce internal facility design standards and digital design workflows
- Develop and maintain masterplans for Aerospace hubs, Manufacturing and assembly facilities, Hangars and MRO-related infrastructure, Offices and R&D facilities
- Plan phased developments to support scalability, future aircraft programs, and operational growth
- Ensure long‑term land use efficiency and infrastructure readiness
- Lead architectural and interior design from concept through construction
- Define space planning, layouts, material strategies, and functional zoning
- Review and approve drawings, specifications, and design documentation
- Ensure consistency of design quality and functional performance across all sites
- Translate engineering and operational requirements into practical, buildable facility designs
- Collaborate with Engineering on Manufacturing and assembly process accommodation, Tooling, GSE, and equipment spatial requirements, Technical constraints affecting facility design
- Collaborate with Operations on Workflow efficiency, Safety zoning and operational usability, Capacity and throughput planning
- Define and oversee digital design workflows linking Aircraft and tooling design data, Facility layouts and spatial planning
- Ensure compatibility between CATIA‑based engineering data and facility design outputs through the internal design team
- Maintain design continuity and knowledge retention across projects and sites
- Lead facility design development from concept to construction completion
- Manage authority submissions, approvals, and regulatory compliance
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, and EPC partners
- Ensure projects meet approved scope, budget, safety, and schedule requirements
- Appoint, brief, and manage external Architects
- Review and approve consultant deliverables prior to construction
- Lead, mentor, and manage the internal facilities design team
- Review team outputs and uphold technical and design standards
- Act as key advisor to senior management on Facility investments, Expansion and site development decisions
- Engineering: Defines aircraft, tooling, and manufacturing process requirements; reviews facility designs for technical compliance
- Operations: Defines operational workflows and safety requirements; validates usability and readiness for operations
- Owns and approves facility master planning, architectural design, and infrastructure decisions
- All facility design changes are subject to formal change control and cross‑functional impact assessment.
What we’re looking for
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
- Part III Architect preferred
- Part II Architect will be considered
- Registered Architect status is an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience in architectural and facilities design
- Proven experience in industrial, manufacturing, or complex facilities
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, or high‑compliance environments is an advantage
- Demonstrated experience leading design teams or managing multidisciplinary stakeholders
Strong proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- Revit / BIM platforms
- 3D visualization tools (e.g. SketchUp or equivalent)
Strong understanding of:
- Authority submission processes
- Consultant coordination and design governance
