An international educational institution based in Negeri Sembilan is seeking a Manager & Education Counsellors focused on the China market. This role involves strategic management of student recruitment, building partnerships with schools, and leading marketing initiatives. Successful candidates will possess a deep understanding of the Chinese education system and be proficient in both English and Chinese. We are expanding our international recruitment team and are seeking dynamic, results-driven professionals to support and grow our China market operations.
China Market Manager
Education Counsellors (China Market)
Responsibilities:
China Student Recruitment: Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment plans to attract students from across multiple provinces in China, aligning with MILA University’s growth strategies.
Conduct thorough market research to identify new opportunities and create targeted marketing campaigns to enhance student recruitment efforts in the China market.
Stay abreast of changes and trends in the education market within the region to adapt strategies and maintain competitiveness.
Collaborate with the MILA University China Centre to plan, recommend, budget and execute promotional events, including education fairs, roadshows, and exhibitions.
Manage all aspects of participation, conduct post-event analysis, and ensure effective follow-up to maximize outcomes.
Manages and engage with potential students, providing guidance on programs, admissions requirements, and the application process.
Perform career and education advisory and course counselling duties professionally and promptly (i.e. face to face, via email or telephone, WeChat or any online means)
2. Market Expansion and Partnerships
Collaborate with the MILA University China Centre, schools, and educational institutions to strengthen partnerships and expand the university’s footprint in China.
Cultivate and maintain strong connections with key stakeholders and organizations to enhance brand visibility and reinforce MILA University’s reputation in the region.
Negotiate and manage contracts with agents/representatives, ensure compliance with policies and meet performance benchmarks and drive successful outcomes.
3. Sales Strategy and Execution
Work closely with the Director of International Student Enrolment Office to create and implement region-specific sales strategies.
Develop and execute action plans for meeting recruitment targets and KPIs, monitoring progress and providing regular reports on market performance.
Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing, ensuring a seamless experience for students, parents, and agents.
4. Event Coordination and Representation
Represent MILA University at education fairs, open days, and other recruitment events.
Coordinate logistics for travel, materials, and promotional activities at events, ensuring a strong and consistent brand presence.
5. Team Collaboration and Leadership
Provide guidance and mentorship to the international student enrolment team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Liaise with internal departments such as Marketing, Admissions, and Academic services to ensure seamless student experiences and maintain alignment in goal.
6. Business Development
Develop and execute strategies to promote study tours and short-term programs in China.
Develop and execute marketing campaigns to promote programs through digital channels, events, and other platforms.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities to achieve sales targets and business growth objectives.
7. Sales Reporting and Forecasting
Prepare and present sales reports, including pipeline updates, forecasts, and performance analysis.
Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Provide insights and recommendations for Director of International Student Enrolment Office for strategic decision making.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, or related filed.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in student recruitment, international education, or China market development.
Strong understanding of the Chinese education system.
Proficiency in Chinese and English (Written and spoken) to liaise with stakeholders in China and management from China.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage regional priorities.
Responsibilities:
1. Student Recruitment
Assist in carrying out recruitment activities to attract China students.
Support basic market research to understand student interests and identify potential opportunities.
Help coordinate participation in Education fairs, Roadshows, and Exhibition, including preparation of materials and follow up after events.
Engage with prospective students by providing accurate information on programmes’ entry requirements, and application processes (in person, via email, or phone).
Provide basic programme counselling and career/education advisory with professionalism and promptness.
2. Market Support and Partnerships
Assist in maintain relationships with international agents, school, and institutional partners
Help prepare documents, presentations, and updates for agents to support recruitment activities
Support the monitoring of agent performance and ensure required documents or information are submitted on time.
3. Sales Support and Reporting
Work with the team to implement China market recruitment plan and campaigns.
Assist in achieving recruitment targets by following up with leads, enquiries and agent referral.
Prepare simple reports, track enquiries and update internal systems with accurate student information.
4. Event Coordination and Representation
Represent MILA University at education fairs, open days, and other recruitment events.
Assist with coordinating event logistics, travel arrangements.
5. Team Collaboration
Work closely with colleagues from Marketing Office, Admissions, and Academic Services to ensure smooth support for prospective students.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and planning activities to continuously improve recruitment efforts.
6. General & Ad-hoc Responsibilities
Undertake any other duties and ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the immediate superior or Head of Department from time to time.
Requirements
1. Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, Marketing, International Relations, Communications, or a related field.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
2. Language Skills
Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Proficiency in Chinese is highly preferred to communicate with China students, agents, and partners.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via email, phone, and in person.
3. Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a student-focused mindset.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Basic presentation and coordination skills for events, fairs, and roadshows.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Basic analytical skills for simple reporting and market research support.
Comfortable using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic CRM or student management systems.

Able to represent the university professionally at external events.
Fresh graduates with internship or part-time experience in education, sales, marketing, or customer service will have an added advantage.
