IT Support Engineer - Johor Bahru, Malaysia

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Support Engineer to be the local IT point‑of‑contact for our manufacturing and office operations in Johor Bahru. This critical role ensures the stability and smooth running of all day‑to‑day IT activities, directly supporting our production environment and office staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining local IT infrastructure, providing end‑user support, and strictly adhering to global IT standards set by our headquarters in Germany. In addition, the role serves as a key interface between local IT and our global Operations IT organization, supporting the implementation of global IT‑Operations strategies, contributing to the international OIT network, and collaborating closely with the German Operations IT team on production systems, security guidelines, and process optimization.

Roles and Responsibilities

Production Support:

Provide immediate and effective IT support to maintain 24/7 production continuity, troubleshooting issues related to manufacturing systems, network connectivity, and specialized production equipment/software.

Monitor and maintain the performance of local servers and network infrastructure (LAN, WLAN, VPN) to ensure maximum uptime.

End‑User Computing (EUC) Support:

Serve as the primary escalation point for all local IT support requests (L1/L2), including hardware (desktops, laptops, mobile devices) and software support (OS, MS Office Suite, internal applications).

Manage user accounts, access rights, and security groups in Active Directory and other corporate systems.

Infrastructure & Security:

Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures as directed by the HQ, including patch management, antivirus deployment, and data backup integrity.

Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of local IT assets, inventory, and licensing.

Act as the local IT contact person, communicating proactively and consistently with the Headquarters IT team in Germany to align local operations with global standards, policies, and projects.

Ensure all local IT activities and documentation comply with global corporate guidelines and relevant regulatory requirements.

Serve as a key interface between the local IT function and the global Operations IT (OIT) organization, supporting the implementation of global IT‑Operations strategies at the Johor Bahru site.

Actively contribute as part of the international OIT network and support teams to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing, and consistent operational excellence across regions.

Collaborate closely with the Operations IT team in Germany, particularly on topics related to production systems, IT security guidelines, and process optimization.

Manage relationships with local IT vendors and service providers for hardware maintenance, internet services, and specialized software support.
