Job summary

A leading recruitment firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer for EPCC projects in the oil and gas sector. Qualifications

About the Company

Our client specializes in turnkey EPCC projects for the oil & gas, power generation, and process industries, with a strong emphasis on natural gas applications, as well as transmission and distribution networks.

About the Job

Role: Instrumentation Engineer (EPCC) – responsible for system design, technical documentation, hazardous area compliance, vendor coordination, project collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and oversee instrument and control (I&C) packages including transmitters, flow meters, gas chromatographs, and PLC-based control systems.
  • Develop project datasheets, system architecture drawings, hook‑up drawings, loop/wiring diagrams, and I/O lists.
  • Select and maintain Explosion‑Proof (Ex) and Intrinsically Safe (IS) equipment in accordance with ATEX and IECEx regulations.
  • Manage vendor deliverables and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Assist Project Managers in daily activities, represent the company in client meetings, and identify recovery plans for project delays.
  • Propose corrective and preventive actions based on equipment performance and customer feedback.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation and Control, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant industry experience in Energy, Oil & Gas, Natural Gas, or Power Generation; EPCC project execution experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC‑based control systems, SCADA, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS/ESD). Critical understanding of explosion-proof and intrinsically safe equipment for hazardous environments.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable to dynamic management styles, and able to work independently in challenging environments.
  • Willingness to travel locally and overseas (particularly within the Asia‑Pacific region) as required by project phases.
