Job summary

A manufacturing company in Penang is seeking a proactive Industrial Engineer with expertise in Lean Six Sigma for a new setup. This role focuses on optimizing production lines, conducting time studies, and ensuring continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing processes and is skilled in data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of Lean methodologies is essential, along with a degree in a relevant field. This position is based on-site in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant working experience in IE / Manufacturing Excellence / Process Improvement.
  • Hands-on exposure to Lean / Lean Six Sigma / continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience in EMS / electronics / manufacturing environment is a plus.

Job Description – Industrial Engineer (IE) / Lean Six Sigma (New Setup)

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Industrial Engineer (IE) with strong new‑setup and ramp‑up experience to support the establishment, optimization, and day‑to‑day improvement of production lines in our newly built manufacturing facility. This role will focus on process optimization, manpower planning, line balancing, and Lean Six Sigma‑driven continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to improve production efficiency and reduce waste
  • Conduct time study, method study, and line balancing to optimize manpower and throughput
  • Perform capacity planning and productivity analysis for new and existing production lines
  • Establish and maintain standard time (STD) and productivity standards
  • Monitor and analyze UPH, OEE, cycle time, and efficiency data
  • Support new line setup, pilot run, and ramp‑up activities
  • Lead or participate in Kaizen / CI projects, including waste elimination and cost reduction
  • Collaborate with Production, Process, Quality, and Equipment teams on improvement initiatives
Job Requirements
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related field
  • Minimum 1‑3 years of relevant working experience in IE / Manufacturing Excellence / Process Improvement
  • Hands‑on exposure to Lean / Lean Six Sigma / continuous improvement tools (e.g. 5S, Kaizen, VSM, Pareto, basic Root Cause Analysis)
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow / Green Belt) is an advantage, but not mandatory
  • Exposure to line balancing, manpower planning, or productivity analysis
  • Good Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Experience in EMS / electronics / manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Comfortable working on the factory floor and able to adapt to a fast‑paced environment
