The HSE Engineer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements, company standards, and best practices. The role supports safe operations, environmental protection, and occupational health through proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA, JSA, JHA).
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with safety rules, permits to work, and safe work procedures.
- Perform regular site inspections, audits, and safety surveillance.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop, review, and implement HSE procedures, method statements, and emergency response plans.
- Organize and conduct HSE training, safety inductions, and toolbox talks.
- Promote safety awareness and a positive HSE culture among employees and contractors.
- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, chemical handling, emissions, and spill prevention.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company environmental standards.
- Support implementation of ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements.
- Conduct environmental inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
Occupational Health
- Support occupational health programs, including ergonomics, hygiene, and exposure control.
- Monitor health risks related to noise, chemicals, dust, and other workplace hazards.
- Coordinate health surveillance and medical monitoring programs where required.
Reporting & Compliance
- Maintain HSE records, permits, registers, and legal documentation.
- Track HSE performance metrics (KPIs) and prepare reports for management.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Liaise with authorities, clients, and contractors on HSE matters.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any related field.
- Registered as Occupational Safety & Health Coordinator (OSHC) with Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in safety, health and environmental management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to details.
- Preferably with Certification competence in safety, health and environmental management.
- Preferably with Certification competence in scheduled waste management.
Working Hours
- 8.00am-5.00pm (Monday-Friday)
