About the role

The Ethics & Compliance Head, ASEAN is accountable for effectively managing Reckitt’s Ethics and Compliance Programme in the region and for supporting Reckitt leadership in ensuring that all obligations under applicable Laws and regulations are being followed.

The individual in this role must have understanding of compliance processes, strong business acumen along with a firm understanding of relevant laws and regulations that are relevant for our Company, how regulatory bodies operate and ample experience in managing compliance risks.

Your responsibilities
General
  • Accountable for the management and development of the Regional Ethics and Compliance Program leading the Ethics & Compliance team in ASEAN.
  • Partners with Legal to deliver the elements of the Compliance Program under Legal’s accountability in the Region, mainly in implementing Data Privacy, Competition Law, Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions and other economic crimes compliance programmes in line with the guidance from the Group Legal Compliance and regional legal requirements.
Risk Management
  • Coordinates periodic Ethics and Compliance Risks Assessments with the relevant Business Leaders. Ensures adequate and proportionate Risk Mitigation and Risks Management Plans are in place for the Top Risks. Feeds outcomes of the E&C Regional risk assessment into the Global Risk assessment
  • Efficiently and accurately operates (lead or oversight) controls for E&C processes impacting the local markets, including Third Party Due Diligence, Conflict of Interest clearance, handling Grants and Donations requests or other compliance controls relevant for Reckitt’s Compliance Programme.
  • Collaborates with other assurance functions (Internal Audit, Internal Controls, etc.) in the Region to provide advice to the Business on controls’ strengthening.
Investigations
  • Provides timely and effective action in response to allegations of improper or illegal conduct. Guarantees efficient and timely investigations of any potential misconduct reported via Speak Up! channel. Ensures all recommendations out of Speak Up! investigations are implemented effectively and on time.
  • Supports external compliance-related investigations together with Legal and other concerned functions.
Culture and Communication
  • Supports the Business Leaders with messaging and relevant actions, i.e., awards, messaging in townhalls, etc., to build strong tone from the top and from the middle.
  • Provides off-line trainings as per business needs (e.g. ACT in factories).
Reporting and advice
  • Reports to Region leadership teams on compliance matters affecting the Region; present status of E&C programmes, updates on important E&C processes and issues.
  • Provides timely support and accurate and prompt advice to the IMEX organizations about queries and doubts on global compliance policies, SOPs or protocols and local compliance requirements (in coordination with legal and/or other concerned functions).
The experience we're looking for
  • University degreerequired
  • Preferably 8-10 years of experience with a deep understanding of compliance program elements, controls, global compliance requirements, issue management protocols, and governance practices is required
  • In-depth knowledge of elements of an effective in-house compliance programme, compliance standards and best practices and global regulatory requirements related to all key areas of compliance mentioned in the “Responsibilities / Accountabilities” section
  • Knowledge of consumer products and/or healthcare industries along with international distribution, development and trade is desirable
  • Experience managing teams is required
  • One or more of the following advanced degrees and/or certifications is a plus:
    • Advanced degree in Law, Business, or Accounting
    • CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner)
    • CCEP (Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional)
    • CCE (Certified Computer Examiner)
    • CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance)
    • CIA (Certified Internal Auditor)
  • International travel might be required from time to time
The skills for success
  • Judgment. Ability to exercise excellent compliance and business judgment, to integrate compliance and business issues, and to partner with business leaders and with other functions.
  • Language. Oral and written English fluency is required; other relevant languages is a plus.
  • Regulations. Knowledge of regional Compliance laws and regulations, e.g. those setting specific requirements to compliance programmes.
  • Business Acumen. Knows how a Multinational Business operates. Understands current and possible future policies, practices, trends and information affecting the Industry.
  • Interpersonal Savvy. Relates well to all kinds of people by building appropriate rapport to construct effective relationships. Uses diplomacy and tact and can defuse even high tension situations comfortably
  • Communication. Ability to present concisely and effectively in both oral and written format to all levels of management; distinguish and message accordingly relevant information for various audiences; willing and comfortable presenting in situations where there may be resistance
  • Prioritization. Be highly organized; plan work for timely conclusion and meet expectations
