A prominent retail company is seeking a Group CFO to enhance its regional finance capabilities. In this pivotal role, you will oversee financial operations across multiple countries, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving strategic initiatives that optimize profitability. The ideal candidate will possess at least 15–20 years of finance leadership experience, with a strong background in public-listed firms. You will oversee multi‑country financial operations, and drive initiatives that enhance profitability and shareholder value.
1] Strategic Leadership & Financial Planning
Lead the Group’s financial strategy, capital allocation, and long‑term financial planning to support regional expansion.
Drive annual budgeting, mid‑term business planning, and reforecasting processes for all SEA and other region entities.
Provide financial insights to the CEO and Board to support strategic decision‑making, M&A activities, and new market entries.
Drive digital transformation and finance process automation across the region.
Oversee Group financial reporting in compliance with MFRS/IFRS, Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) regulations, and relevant SEA and other region regulations.
Ensure timely preparation of quarterly announcements, annual reports, and consolidated accounts.
Implement robust financial closing processes and internal controls across all countries.
Manage intercompany transactions, transfer pricing, and regional financial consolidation.
3] Treasury, Funding & Capital Structure
Lead Group treasury functions, including cash management, banking relationships, liquidity planning, and foreign exchange exposure management.
Develop capital structure strategies (debt vs equity), including fundraising, credit facilities, and investor engagements.
Evaluate investment decisions, major capex projects, and financing proposals across SEA and other region operations.
4] Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure strong internal controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance with corporate governance standards for public listed entities.
Oversee tax planning and compliance for all SEA and other region jurisdictions.
Work closely with internal and external auditors to address audit issues and regulatory reviews.
Strengthen enterprise risk frameworks, including anti‑corruption, AML/CFT, and internal audit oversight.
5] Investor Relations & Stakeholder Management
Lead Investor Relations (IR) strategy, including communication with shareholders, analysts, fund managers, and regulators.
Support the Board Audit Committee and provide updates during Board and Committee meetings.
Prepare investor decks, AGM materials, and corporate presentations.
6] Regional Finance Leadership (SEA)
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Country Finance Leads across SEA and other region.
Standardize financial policies, SOPs, chart of accounts, and reporting frameworks across all countries.
Drive regional shared services or finance transformation initiatives (if applicable).
Ensure adaptability to local tax laws, labour regulations, banking practices, and market conditions.
7] Business Performance & Operational Finance
Monitor business performance via KPIs, dashboards, margin analysis, and operational metrics.
Partner with commercial, supply chain, and operations teams to drive profitability and operational efficiencies.
Lead pricing reviews, cost optimization initiatives, and ROI evaluations for strategic projects.
Evaluate SEA and other regional market trends and risks affecting business performance.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Professional qualification: CPA, ACCA, ICAEW, or equivalent.
Minimum 15–20 years of progressive finance leadership experience, with at least 5 years at the CFO or regional finance head level, ideally in a public‑listed or large regional conglomerate.
Experience managing multi‑country operations (SEA and retail experience strongly preferred).
Strong knowledge of Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements, SC guidelines, and corporate governance frameworks.
Proven track record in fundraising, investor relations, and capital market activities.
