We are currently hiring for three grinding machinist positions: Profile Grinding Machinist, Steel Grinding Machinist, and Carbide Grinding Machinist. While each position has its specific focus area, all roles require a strong understanding of precision grinding principles, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to produce high‑quality components to exacting specifications. We're seeking skilled machinists who are passionate about their craft and committed to excellence in their particular grinding discipline.
Responsibilities
Common to All Positions:
- Set up, operate, and maintain precision grinding machines to achieve specified dimensions and surface finishes
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine grinding parameters
- Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators to verify work meets specifications
- Select appropriate grinding wheels, abrasives, and coolants based on material type and application requirements
- Dress and balance grinding wheels to maintain optimal cutting performance
- Perform in-process inspections and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Position-Specific Responsibilities:
- Profile Grinding Machinist: Perform complex profile grinding operations to create intricate shapes and contours; work with templates and fixtures to achieve precise geometric profiles
- Steel Grinding Machinist: Grind various steel alloys and heat‑treated materials; manage thermal considerations to prevent material damage during grinding operations
- Carbide Grinding Machinist: Execute specialized carbide grinding techniques; work with diamond and CBN wheels; manage the unique challenges of grinding extremely hard materials
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands‑on experience operating precision grinding machines
- Strong understanding of grinding theory, including wheel selection, speeds, and feeds
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment
- Ability to hold tight tolerances (±0.002 mm or tighter)
- Knowledge of wheel dressing techniques and balancing procedures
- Experience relevant to the specific grinding position you're applying for
