Our client is a top property conglomerate. They are looking for a General Manager of Finance (Consolidation and Financial Planning & Analysis). He/she is primarily responsible to oversee the finance function in the area of:

  • Group financial reporting for external and internal stakeholders.
  • Group financial planning and analysis.
Responsibilities
Consolidation and Financial Reporting
  • Monthly reporting, quarterly reporting, annual financial statements of:
    - Group financials
    - Listed holding company and intermediate holding companies
    - IAM entities under Group Finance
    - Selected semi-active and dormant entities
  • Preparation of AC and BOD papers including matters arising, related party transactions, non-audit fees, annual audit fees, dividend and ad-hoc financial reporting related papers
  • Regular review of non-property development JV and associate and BPS financials
  • Setting and/or updating group accounting policies on new transactions and new accounting standards
  • Ensure compliance with MFRS, group accounting policies, Companies Act (where relevant to financial reporting) via regular review of group-wide practices on rotational basis and upon consultation
  • Addressing internal and external stakeholders’ requests, e.g., inter-departmental support (Corporate Planning, GMD office, Group Risk, Sustainability, GCAD, etc.), shareholders, MSWG, etc.
  • Preparation of group annual operating plan, mid-year review and monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor, analyse and report variances between actual performance against budget with the objective of identifying gap for management action and decisions.
  • Annual report and AGM – preparation of GCFO statement, management discussion & analysis and review of all financial-related matters; AGM FAQ
  • Board member of certain subsidiaries and JVs.
  • OC and exco member of non-PD subsidiaries and JVs.
  • Attend meetings, provide input and approve matters under the purview of BOD/Committee in respect of the above roles.
Corporate proposals/project/operational support
  • Provide input on financial reporting implication especially around group / consolidated financial impact.
  • Review of financial assessments for non-PD Group Tender Committee and Board Tender Committee papers.
  • Assess and approve non-PD approval papers in accordance with LOA.
  • Support and advise operations on financial matters.
Internal Control
  • Provide support on existing process and procedures upon consultation.
  • Monitor action taken by entities accountants on internal control weaknesses identified.
People
  • Ongoing assessment of organization design of staffing and job allocation within the Consolidation/FP&A team.
  • Supporting GCFO on Group Finance annual organizational design review.
  • Setting and monitoring KPI of the team.
  • Recruitment of finance staff within the consolidation / FP&A team.
  • Providing support on recruitment of finance staff outside Group Finance, e.g. operational finance.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to the team.
  • Identifying training needs and provide training, as needed, to the team.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Accounting / Finance or other related discipline.
  • Professional Qualification: ACCA/ ICAEW/ MICPA/ CIMA/ CPA or MIA member.
  • Prior experience in PLC and in the property or construction industry.
