Job summary

A leading logistics firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Freight Forwarding Manager to oversee international and domestic freight forwarding activities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience in the field. Responsibilities include managing shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and optimizing freight costs. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with various internal teams and external service providers to ensure efficient service delivery.

Job description

Oversee international and domestic freight forwarding activities (air, sea, land).

Manage booking, routing, documentation, and delivery of shipments.

Ensure timely and accurate execution of import/export shipments and clearance.

Customs & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure all shipments comply with local, international, and customer-specific customs regulations.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge on tariff codes, duties, and trade regulations.

Liaise with customs brokers and authorities for smooth clearance processes.

Serve as the key contact for customers regarding freight and forwarding matters.

Work with internal teams (warehouse, transport, customer service) to ensure end-to-end service delivery.

Maintain good relationships with external service providers including forwarders, shipping lines, and customs agents.

Cost Control & Optimization

Monitor freight costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Optimize freight mode selection and routing.

Prepare freight budgets and ensure spending is within targets.

Documentation & Reporting

Ensure proper and timely preparation of shipping and customs documents

Generate regular performance and cost reports for management.

Investigate and resolve any shipment delays, damages, or discrepancies.

Requirements
  • · Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
  • · Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in freight forwarding, preferably in a 3PL or logistics company.
