The Management Accountant is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing finance–related matters, with a strong focus on product costing, FP&A, margin analysis, and finance transformation initiatives.
This role acts as a key finance partner to manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams, ensuring accurate cost information, robust financial analysis, and continuous improvement of finance processes. The position also supports basic legal, compliance, and contractual matters related to manufacturing operations, working closely with finance leadership and external advisors when required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Costing & Manufacturing Finance
- Lead and manage product costing across manufacturing operations, including standard costing, actual costing, and variance analysis.
- Review and maintain BOM accuracy, routing, labour, and overhead absorption rates.
- Analyze material usage, yield, scrap, and efficiency variances, providing clear explanations to management.
- Support pricing decisions by providing accurate cost and margin analysis.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Prepare and manage manufacturing budgets, forecasts, and rolling forecasts.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis (cost, volume, mix, efficiency) and present insights to finance and operations management.
- Develop dashboards and KPIs for plant performance, productivity, and cost control.
- Support scenario planning and cost sensitivity analysis for new products or capacity changes.
3. Finance Transformation & Process Improvement
- Drive finance transformation initiatives within manufacturing finance, including process standardization, automation, and system improvements.
- Work closely with ERP teams on costing modules, data integrity, and reporting enhancements.
- Improve month-end closing timelines, reporting accuracy, and management information quality.
- Implement best practices in management accounting and manufacturing finance controls.
4. Business Partnering with Manufacturing & Operations
- Act as a finance business partner to plant managers, production, engineering, and supply chain teams.
- Provide financial insights to support operational decisions, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
- Challenge operational assumptions using data-driven financial analysis.
Support finance leadership in handling manufacturing-related legal and compliance matters, including:
- Review of commercial contracts, supplier agreements, and costing-related clauses.
- Support for statutory, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors, auditors, and consultants when required.
- Ensure finance-related controls are embedded in manufacturing and procurement processes.
6. Reporting & Management Support
- Prepare management reports related to manufacturing performance, costs, margins, and efficiency.
- Support internal and external audits by providing costing, inventory, and operational finance documentation.
- Assist in ad‑hoc analysis and projects requested by Finance Manager, Regional Finance Manager, or HQ finance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or CMA is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in manufacturing finance, management accounting, or costing roles.
Strong hands‑on experience in:
- Product costing and inventory accounting.
- FP&A and management reporting.
- Manufacturing variance and margin analysis.
- Exposure to finance transformation, ERP implementation, or system upgrades is a strong advantage.
- Basic working knowledge of commercial/legal matters related to manufacturing operations (not a legal role).
