Overview
This role resides under MISC Marine (the Integrated Marine Services arm of MISC Group).
Key Accountabilities
Procurement and Service Agreements (Contractors' Level)
Assist Head, Legal & Compliance and Manager Legal Operations in the provision of legal services for procurement exercise undertaken by Marine Group. Legal services include (but not limited to) the following:
- Liaison with Procurement and the relevant business unit to understand the Company’s requirement and drafting/reviewing of ITB documents in particular the Form of Agreement for purposes of issuing the ITB (under supervision of Manager, Operations).
- Review Contractors’ clarifications, deviations and amendments to the Form of Agreements and other related legal documents and provide recommendations that upholds commercial competitiveness without compromising the Company’s interests to the relevant business unit (under close supervision and guidance of Manager, Operations).
- Negotiate and finalize the agreements taking into account complexity of the business.
- Review the agreements reflect the agreed terms for execution by Limits of Authority (LOA) holder.
In-House Legal Services
Assist Head, Legal & Compliance and Manager, Operations in provision of legal services for general legal issues to cross-functional division/ department include but not limited to reviewing, drafting, negotiating and finalizing various legal documents including agreements, addendums, letters, emails containing legal notices etc.
Pre-litigation Portfolio
- Assist Head, Legal & Compliance and Manager, Operations in the provision of legal services including assess, and monitor the Marine Group insurance related claims with Group Insurance, Owners and the appointed external legal counsels to protect Marine Group and Owners’ interest.
- Advise, and facilitate HSSE related incidents reporting (pre-litigation) and provide required information and documents.
Management of Information Related to Legal Services
- Ensure sufficient and up-to-date legal resources and materials are available to effectively discharge legal services.
- Collaborate with MISC Berhad’s LCSC for Legal, Insurance & Company Secretarial matter.
- Keep abreast knowledge in the legislation and regulations in Malaysia and relevant jurisdictions relevant to the Marine Group businesses.
Building Rapport
Develop continuous strong relationship building with both external and internal stakeholders with a view to promote and safeguard Marine Group’s interest.
What does it take to apply?
- Possessed minimum Bachelor's Degree of Laws or equivalent.
- Preferably candidate with minimum of three (3) years of working experience in Legal portfolio. Added advantage for candidate with good familiarity of Maritime/ Oil & Gas industries.
- Strong and solid in negotiation as well as drafting skills.
- Able to work under tight deadlines and high pace work environment.
