A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is seeking an Engineering Draughtsman. This role involves creating and maintaining detailed technical drawings and CAD models for fasteners, ensuring they meet customer specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, be proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and possess strong knowledge of fastener standards. This position offers opportunities to support continuous improvement initiatives and new product development.
The Engineering Draughtsman is responsible for creating, reviewing, and maintaining detailed technical drawings and CAD models for fasteners. The role ensures designs meet customer specifications, industry standards, and production feasibility, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and new product development.
Prepare accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Interpret engineering specifications, customer drawings, and standards to develop manufacturing-ready drawings.
Update and maintain drawing records, revisions, and documentation.
Work closely with Design, Engineering, and Quality teams to develop new fastener products for automotive applications.
Assist in prototyping, testing, and design verification processes.
Ensure drawings comply with automotive standards, tolerances, and material specifications.
Collaborate with Production, Tooling, and Procurement teams to ensure manufacturability of designs.
Provide technical support to resolve production issues related to fastener design or specifications.
Ensure all drawings are clear, precise, and fully aligned with production capabilities.
Ensure all designs comply with internal quality standards and fastener industry requirements.
Support documentation for customer approvals (PPAP, control plans, inspection drawings).
Identify and suggest improvements to reduce manufacturing defects or assembly issues.
Suggest design improvements for cost reduction, efficiency, and performance.
Mentor junior draughtsman and support skill development within the engineering team.
Participate in cross‑functional projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
