The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the overall reliability and performance of plant equipment and control systems. This role encompasses the full lifecycle of E&I assets, from planning preventive and corrective maintenance to leading technical troubleshooting and managing project activities for plant upgrades and expansions.
1. Maintenance & Technical Reliability
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Execute and oversee maintenance programs for panels, MCCs, control systems, transmitters, sensors, and field instruments.
Fault Troubleshooting: Act as the technical lead for resolving complex electrical, instrumentation, and automation/DCS faults to minimize production downtime.
Technical Guidance: Provide expert support and supervision to the technical team (Chargemen) to ensure high-quality repair and maintenance work.
Documentation Management: Maintain and update critical technical records, including wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and panel documentation.
2. Project Management & System Integration
Plant Upgrades: Lead E&I workstreams for plant expansions and modernization projects from concept to completion.
Technical Specifications: Prepare detailed specifications, datasheets, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and technical evaluations for new equipment and systems.
Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors to ensure project delivery aligns with safety, quality, and timeline requirements.
Commissioning: Supervise the installation, testing, and system integration of new E&I infrastructure.
3. Performance Optimization & Compliance
Failure Analysis: Analyze recurring equipment failures and propose long-term technical solutions to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
Process Improvement: Recommend equipment upgrades and process optimizations to enhance energy efficiency and operational throughput.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all E&I systems comply with ISO 9001, HALAL requirements, and relevant local electrical codes and standards.
Safety & Audits: Participate in safety reviews, risk assessments, and internal/external audits. Maintain meticulous calibration records and compliance documentation.
Education & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in E&I maintenance or engineering. Experience within chemical or petrochemical processing environments is a significant advantage.
Technical & Professional Skills
Systems Knowledge: Strong proficiency in PLC and DCS (Distributed Control Systems) architectures.
Software: Proficient in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office applications for project tracking and reporting.
Regulatory: Familiarity with local electrical codes, standards, and plant safety protocols (LOTO, PTW).
