Responsibilities

Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the implementation of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices in a manufacturing facility. The SHO will oversee compliance with Malaysia's regulatory requirements (DOSH, DOE, etc.), coordinate waste and chemical management, and lead workplace safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage scheduled waste storage, labelling, transfer, and disposal based on CEPSWAM standards
  • Monitor manufacturing emissions, noise levels, and ensure timely reporting to DOE.
  • Oversee safe storage and usage of industrial chemicals waste used in production processes.
  • Track and control the usage of PPE, especially the management and supervision of items like gloves and other factory waste in high-risk areas.
  • Develop factory-specific safety plans, perform HIRARC assessments, and implement preventive measures.
  • Conduct EHS training and drills for production staff; lead Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
  • DOSH-registered Safety & Health Officer (SHO) - mandatory
  • CEPSWAM certificate - preferred for waste-handling factories
  • Minimum 2-3 years in EHS or Safety role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in scheduled waste management and DOE reporting is an advantage.
  • OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, EQA 1974, DOSH & DOE guidelines
