Director, Client Management (Treaty)
The Director, Client Management (Treaty) will be responsible for servicing Aon Reinsurance Solutions’ clients by providing high‑quality advice and reinsurance solutions that optimize clients’ portfolios. The role serves as a primary point of contact for assigned clients and reinsurers, supporting both transactional placements and ongoing technical advisory needs.
The Director will partner with internal groups such as Analytics, Technical Account Management, and Client Services. They are encouraged to foster and sustain positive relationships with clients and reinsurers to strengthen Aon’s market position and promote new business opportunities.

What the day will look like
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and reinsurers on all treaty-related matters.
- Build and strengthen strong working relationships with key decision-makers at client and reinsurer organizations.
- Proactively identify client needs and opportunities to contribute through reinsurance, capital, and risk advisory solutions.
- Lead strategic account planning and ensure delivery of agreed client service plans.
Reinsurance Needs Analysis
- Gathering and review client information (e.g., underwriting data, portfolio performance, exposure details).
- Assess clients’ reinsurance needs and objectives in line with their risk appetite, capital requirements, and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with Analytics and other internal teams to translate client data and insights into robust reinsurance structures and recommendations.
Treaty Program Renewals
Provide overall leadership and accountability for end-to-end treaty renewal processes, including:
- Overseas the cleansing, validation, and analysis of clients’ renewal information packs.
- Identify data gaps or inconsistencies and coordinate with clients to resolve them.
Pricing and Benchmarking
- Work closely with analytics team and use the pricing input from analysts to generate desk-quotes for benchmarking and negotiation purposes.
- Compare renewal terms against historical and market benchmarks to support negotiation strategy.
Catastrophe modelling and coverage recommendations
- Interpret and explain catastrophe modelling and benchmarking reports to clients.
- Provide recommendations on optimal reinsurance structure, attachment points, and limits, ensuring alignment with clients’ risk and capital objectives.
Market engagement and negotiation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international reinsurers to secure competitive terms.
- Negotiate with reinsurers to obtain the most comprehensive coverage at the best available price.
Placement execution
- Coordinate and oversee the placement of treaty programs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure all binding documentation is completed and communicated promptly to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Ongoing Client Servicing
- Manage special acceptance requests and other ad-hoc client queries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Arrange and facilitate regular meetings between clients and reinsurers (e.g., treaty reviews, strategy discussions, market updates).
- Work with Client Services team to support prompt settlement of premiums and claims collections.
- Ensure a consistently high standard of service delivery and client satisfaction.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date documentation for all client and market activities, including:
- Minutes of meetings with clients and reinsurers.
- Catastrophe benchmarking and analytical reports.
- Company profiles and account plans.
- Quarterly reinsurance market outlook reports.
- Country/market reports and relevant research.
Market Intelligence & Research
- Monitor key developments, trends and regulatory changes in the Malaysian insurance and reinsurance market.
- Maintain a structured record of key market changes, trends, competitor activities and pricing/coverage trends.
- Share market intelligence with clients and internal business partners to support decision-making and business development.
Brand & Business Development
- Support the planning and execution of market events, seminars, and client/reinsurer engagements that promote the Aon Reinsurance Solutions brand.
- Represent Aon professionally at market events, conferences, and meetings.
- Find opportunities for cross-selling and new business based on client needs and market developments.
Compliance & Governance
- Adhere to Aon’s internal policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Ensure all placements and client interactions align with relevant regulatory and legal frameworks.
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, ethical conduct, and client confidentiality.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
Skills & Experience
- Around 10+ years’ experience in reinsurance broking, insurance/reinsurance underwriting, or related advisory roles, with strong exposure to treaty business.
- Proven track record managing senior client relationships and leading treaty placements and renewals.
- Strong understanding of treaty structures, pricing concepts, and catastrophe modelling, ideally within the Malaysian market.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Demonstrates strong leadership qualities, high integrity, and a collaborative working style.
