Job description

Pico Play is a global leader in themed entertainment design and construction. From our Kuala Lumpur office, we create immersive attractions, themed environments, and entertainment experiences that bring storytelling and creativity to life.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Digital Sculptor to join our creative theming team. This role involves transforming concept art and design sketches into detailed 3D digital sculpts that are not only visually compelling but also optimised for fabrication, moulding, and large-scale production.

The Digital Sculptor will work closely with concept designers, art directors, and fabricators to ensure sculpted forms — from characters and statues to rockwork, decorative motifs, and props — are accurate, buildable, and durable once realised in physical form.

Key Responsibilities
  • Digital Sculpting: Produce high-quality 3D sculpts of themed elements using Blender or ZBrush.
  • Fabrication-Ready Models: Optimise sculpted models for CNC milling, 3D printing, mould-making, and casting, ensuring correct scale, tolerances, and part separations.
  • Interpretation of Creative Concepts: Translate sketches, mood boards, and concept art into 3D sculsts while retaining the intended artistic style and storytelling.
  • Knowledge of Real-World Parameters: Apply practical understanding of mould-making, shrinkage, joinery, and fabrication workflows.
  • Collaboration with Designers & Fabricators: Partner with creative designers, BIM coordinators, and on-site teams.
  • Surface & Detail Development: Sculpt fine surface textures, patterns, and finishes.
  • Iteration & Feedback: Revise and refine sculpts based on feedback.
  • On-Site Support: Provide digital-to-physical guidance during mock-ups, testing, and installation.
How This Role Differs from Generic Digital Sculpting Work
  • Your sculpts will be physically built at large scale and experienced by guests, not confined to screens.
  • You’ll create organic forms (creatures, rockwork, natural textures) and architectural details (ornamentation, decorative panels, themed finishes).
  • Models must consider fabrication realities: mould design, material behaviour, reinforcement, and long-term durability.
  • Collaboration goes beyond digital teams to include mould-makers, fabricators, scenic artists, and engineers.
  • Sculpting is not just artistic — it is a direct step in making immersive environments real.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Blender or ZBrush (required).
  • Strong portfolio of digital sculpting work (characters, props, or environments).
  • Experience preparing sculpts for CNC milling, 3D printing, mould-making, and casting.
  • Solid understanding of form, anatomy, scale, and proportion.
  • Knowledge of real-world fabrication parameters (mould design, tolerances, shrinkage, parting lines, surface prep).
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with designers, engineers, and fabrication teams.
