A higher education institution in Kuala Lumpur seeks a qualified Dental Technology Laboratory Instructor to prepare and maintain teaching materials for dental education. Responsibilities include guiding and supervising dental students in prosthetics fabrication, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols, and managing lab tasks efficiently. The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma in Dental Technology with at least three years of dental lab experience. Prepare and maintain teaching and learning materials, including dental consumables, materials, and tooth models, for undergraduate and postgraduate training.
Guide and supervise dental students in the fabrication of dental prostheses and appliances, including dentures, special trays, removable orthodontic appliances, and related laboratory projects.
Ensure students complete laboratory projects in accordance with their programme requirements and scheduled timetables.
Receive, record, and register written laboratory prescriptions and work orders from clinics and students.
Design, fabricate, modify, and repair dental prostheses for dental treatment, replacement, and protection, including full and partial dentures, provisional prostheses, crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, orthodontic appliances, implant-supported prostheses, and other prescribed dental prostheses.
Fabricate dental prostheses and appliances in compliance with established standard operating procedures and within approved turnaround times.
Operate, maintain, and support CAD-CAM systems and digital dental workflows, including digital scanning, computer-aided design (CAD), milling, and 3D printing, for teaching and clinical support.
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of dental equipment and software, and to liaise with vendors for technical support when necessary.
Ensure laboratory workbenches and work areas are clean, organize and compliant with laboratory best practices at all times.
Monitor and ensure adequate stock levels of materials and consumables for student projects and clinical laboratory cases.
Strictly adhere to health, safety, and infection control policies and procedures while performing all laboratory duties.
Support university, school, and departmental activities, including community service programmes, continuing professional development (CPD) workshops, and academic events.
Manage conventional case data, digital case files, design data, and production records in accordance with university data management and confidentiality policies.
Perform other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate superior in accordance with university requirements.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Diploma in Dental Technology or equivalent qualification.
At least 3 years of work experience in a dental laboratory.
Ability to work independently and manage laboratory tasks efficiently.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Experience with CAD-CAM systems and digital workflows is an advantage.
