Job description

The Corporate Affairs Manager/Director will be primarily responsible for government relations, industry and stakeholder engagement, with corporate communications and media engagement as a secondary focus and CSR as a smaller but important support area. The role may be hired at Manager or Director level depending on the candidate’s experience and scope. This position requires strong stakeholder engagement and corporate communications capabilities, with a practical understanding of Malaysia’s regulatory and political landscape, while aligning with the company’s commercial and strategic objectives in the FMCG sector.

Key Responsibilities

1) Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy:

Build and nurture relationships with key external stakeholders, including government-linked stakeholders, industry associations, investors, suppliers, retail partners, and industry groups.

Advocate for the company’s interests in industry forums and government discussions, influencing policies affecting the FMCG sector and ensuring the company’s positions are well-represented and pragmatic.

2) Government Relations & Regulatory Compliance:

Develop and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies such as the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and industry associations such as the Federation of Malaysia Manufacturing (FMM).

Track and influence legislation and regulations impacting the FMCG sector, including labelling, packaging, and food safety regulations and work with internal teams to translate regulatory changes into clear business implications and action plans.

3) Public Relations & Media Relations:

Respond to media inquiries, handle crisis communications, and prepare executives for media interviews (including key message development, briefing notes and Q&A).

Monitor and manage media coverage and public sentiment regarding the company’s products, sustainability initiatives, and market activities.

Work with the company’s Headquarters on corporate communications strategy and adapt global/regional guidelines to the Malaysian market, including coordination on press releases, campaigns and thought leadership.

4) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Sustainability:

Engage with stakeholders, including NGOs and local communities, to address social and environmental issues that are material to the business жеке і brand.

Support the planning and execution of focused CSR programmes (expected to be a smaller part of the role) that reinforce the company’s reputation and commercial priorities.

Qualifications

1) Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certifications in Corporate Communications, PR, or Public Affairs would be an advantage.

2) Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in corporate affairs, communications, public policy or public relations, preferably within the FMCG, consumer goods, or retail sectors in Malaysia.

3) Skills:

Strong understanding of the FMCG industry, including its Mark dynamics, regulatory environment, and market trends in Malaysia.

Exposure to personal care and hygiene products preferred.

Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (both written and verbal).

Strong media relations and crisis communication experience.

Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leadership, government officials, media, and other external stakeholders.การ

Familiarity with digital media, social media platforms, and online brand management.

Comfortable working in a lean team environment, balancing strategic work with hands‑on execution.

Candidates with stronger experience in either (1) government/stakeholder relations or (2) corporate communications and media, who are keen to grow in the other area, are encouraged to apply.
