Responsibilities:

• Interpret and analyze complex engineering drawings for grinding requirements.
• Program CNC surface grinding machines using G-code or conversational control.
• Select grinding wheels based on material type and surface finish requirements.
• Dress and true grinding wheels to achieve precise geometries.
• Set work offsets, zero points, and reference coordinates.
• Mount and secure work pieces accurately on magnetic chucks or fixtures.
• Calibrate machine settings for specific tolerances.
• Conduct program simulations to prevent errors and collisions.
• Develop setup sheets for repeat grinding operations.
• Grind to tight tolerances within microns.
• Monitor spindle speed, feed rate, and coolant flow.
• Perform plunge grinding, creep-feed grinding, and reciprocating grinding.
• Achieve mirror-finish or super-finishing as per customer requirements.
• Handle both small intricate parts and large flat plates.
• Conduct trial runs before final grinding operations.
• Adjust parameters mid-operation to maintain quality.
• Maintain grinding wheel condition during extended runs.
• Hand lap parts for ultra-precision fits.
• Check part flatness using granite surface plates.
• Match grinds on multiple components for uniform dimensions.
• Repair worn or damaged parts through regrinding.
• Fit mating components for assembly after grinding.
• Work with other machining specialists to ensure fit accuracy.
• Finish surfaces to customer-specified Ra values.
• Prepare parts for coating or further processing.
• Assemble ground parts into jigs or fixtures for testing.
• Design and fabricate special grinding fixtures.
• Modify fixtures to suit unique work pieces.
• Maintain and refurbish magnetic chucks and clamping tools.
• Use precision alignment tools to set fixtures.
• Implement quick-change fixture systems.
• Ensure repeatability for production runs.
