Business Development Manager – Remote Sensing and GIS

Ground Data Solutions (GDS) R&D Sdn Bhd is a high‑tech mapping and surveying services provider which mainly focuses on the use of airborne LiDAR technology. GDS is the only Malaysian company that builds, owns and operates LiDAR systems. The company is continuously involved in research and development, both in LiDAR systems and applications of LiDAR data.

Role Summary

We are looking for a Business Development Manager. The candidate will be responsible for handling public sector, government‑linked private sector accounts and developing a complete understanding of key account needs.

Responsibilities
  • Build high‑level customer confidence and client relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Build and improve relationships with key decision makers.
  • Deeply understand and influence mid‑ and senior‑level customers on decisions about projects or business.
  • Acquire in‑depth understanding of customer’s strategic needs, goals and objectives.
  • Anticipate key account changes and improvements.
  • Establish comprehensive account plans for all assigned accounts, develop business and sales plans to close deals and meet target sales KPI.
  • Manage CRM to register and qualify opportunities, ensure healthy funnels, manage forecasts and pipeline, and update management on deals progress.
  • Plan and present reports on account progress, goals, and quarterly initiatives to share with team members, stakeholders, and possible use in company training.
  • Work with team members to develop up‑to‑date sales collateral and marketing materials.
  • Continuously monitor competitors, customer behavior, and market trend.
  • Maintain insight into competitors and be able to formulate competitive strategies, so as to successfully win difficult projects.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Business Development and Sales Management.
  • Experience in managing Government/ Public Sector/ Government‑Linked Companies / Conglomerates is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Surveying, Remote Sensing, or Geoinformatics from an accredited university or college.
  • Work experience in remote sensing and GIS field would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to senior‑level customers.
