Job description

The Barista is responsible for managing daily coffee bar operations, preparing high-quality beverages, supervising baristas, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service. This role leads barista training, quality control, and inventory management.

Scope of Work

Oversee daily coffee bar operations.

Prepare coffee and beverages according to company standards.

Supervise, train, and guide barista team members.

Maintain beverage quality, bar cleanliness, and equipment upkeep.

Manage inventory, ordering, and machine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
A. Coffee Preparation & Quality

Prepare espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, cold beverages, and specialty drinks with consistency.

Control taste, temperature, milk texture, and overall quality of each beverage.

Ensure all ingredients, tools, and mise en place are properly prepared.

Contribute ideas or develop new beverages for the menu.

Train new baristas on SOPs, brewing techniques, grinder calibration, latte art, and speed of service.

Supervise and evaluate barista performance to ensure standards are met.

Assign daily tasks such as opening, closing, and station rotations.

C. Bar Operations

Calibrate grinders daily to ensure consistent extraction.

Monitor cleanliness of the bar, espresso machine, milk steamer, and tools.

Perform routine cleaning and scheduled deep-cleaning.

Operate espresso machines, grinders, and beverage equipment safely and efficiently.

D. Stock & Inventory Management

Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, sugar, cups, and other supplies.

Prepare purchase requests and report shortages to the supervisor or office.

Ensure proper storage and stock rotation (FIFO).

E. Customer Service & Communication

Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.

Handle customer feedback or complaints regarding beverages.

Communicate with kitchen and floor teams to ensure smooth operations.

F. Safety & Hygiene

Follow all food safety, hygiene, and bar SOPs.

Ensure the bar area is always clean, organized, and safe.
