Scope
As a IT Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the minds of the next generation of IT professionals. Your responsibilities will span across teaching, curriculum development, research, and community engagement, aiming to deliver an outstanding educational experience. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about both technology and education, eager to contribute to the academic and professional development of our students.
The candidate shall be a member of the staff of the Department of Information Technology (DIS) assigned by KICT and shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and other obligations normally required of an academic staff member of IIUM.
The candidate should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to colleagues and students as part of duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
As a lecturer and member of the academic staff, the candidate is required to attend any meetings related to administrative positions they may hold. This attendance is mandated by appointments made under the IIUM through administrative directives issued by the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah/ Centre/ Department/ Institute/ Office/ Mahallah.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Design and update comprehensive CS courses that reflect the latest industry trends and academic standards.
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and lab sessions across a variety of CS subjects, incorporating cutting‑edge technologies and software.
- Student Assessment: Create and evaluate examinations, assignments, and projects to gauge student knowledge and skills, providing constructive feedback.
- Research Contribution: Conduct and publish impactful research in the CS field and supervise student research projects and theses.
- Professional Development: Remain current with technological advancements and pedagogical strategies through continued education and active participation in academic communities.
- Community and Industry Engagement: Collaborate with industry experts to ensure curriculum relevance and foster opportunities for student placements.
- Mentorship: Offer academic advice and personal mentorship to students, guiding them towards academic and professional success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a Doctorate (PhD), Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Computing from a recognised university.

Minimum Competencies
Particularly in a higher education context, typical competencies encompass a blend of academic qualifications, teaching abilities, research skills, and personal attributes that enable effective education delivery, student engagement, and contributions to the academic community. Prior experience in teaching and research in the higher education sector is an added advantage.
Minimum Research and Publication
- Completed Research Grant as Principal Investigator (PI): Completed 40k as PI and accumulative 70K including on‑going research as Co‑Researcher.
- Publications as Main Author or Corresponding Author: 3 indexed papers and 3 non‑indexed papers, with at least 3 papers as main/common author.
- Student Supervision: Completed student supervision as main supervisor – 2 master students.
- Community Engagement/Service Contribution: At least 1 impactful contribution.

Language Qualifications
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
