ASSISTANT MANAGER, PLANNING & MANAGEMENT REPORTING

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global partnership to make palm oil sustainable. Today, the RSPO is a global, non‑profit organisation with over 6,000 voluntary members across 104 countries and territories, representing every link in the supply chain: oil palm producers, palm oil processors and traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks and investors, environmental or nature conservation non‑government‑al organisations (NGOs), and social or developmental NGOs.

The Assistant Manager, Planning & Management Reporting plays a key role in the organisation’s budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting activities. This position supports the Head, Financial Planning & Reporting to develop budgets, forecasts, and key performance metrics, and is responsible for producing accurate, timely and insightful management reports and financial information to support decision‑making, performance management, and strategic planning. The role interacts closely with cross‑functional teams to provide financial insights, drive performance analysis, and ensure strong financial governance.

The location of this role is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Management Reporting
  • Prepare timely and accurate delivery of monthly management reports and dashboards.
  • Analyse financial results, identify key trends, and highlight risks and opportunities.
  • Provide strategic insights to senior leadership team to support performance reviews and planning.
Financial Planning & Budgeting
  • Support the annual budget cycle across all business units and departments.
  • Assist to develop modelling tools, templates, and guidelines for consistent medium and long term planning practices.
  • Assist to review and challenge budget submissions to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Forecasting & Performance Management
  • Prepare periodic rolling forecasts and scenario planning activities.
  • Assist to evaluate financial performance against budget and prior periods, providing actionable insights.
Audit & Internal Control
  • Assist in strengthening internal controls over financial reporting and planning processes.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with finance policies and procedures, accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of accounting policies, reporting frameworks, and financial planning processes.
Process Improvements
  • Support automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist in ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data used for planning and reporting.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of financial planning systems and analytical tools.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth finance workflows.
  • Support the escalation of financial planning & reporting issues.
  • Support cross‑functional financial discussions to support decision‑making.

Apart from the duties stated above, to perform any such duties reasonably assigned.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
Education
  • University degree in accounting and finance, preferably with professional qualification as a qualified accountant
Experience
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting & compliance, financial planning, financial analysis, or management reporting.
  • Proven experience in leading reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management cycles.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills, with proficiency in financial systems and BI tools.
  • Experience in stakeholders collaboration.
Technical and Professional Knowledge
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
