The Deputy Head of Mechanical Maintenance is responsible for the mechanical maintenance activities at the Power Station, including the identification of all maintenance requirements and their integration into a long term plan.
Responsibilities
- Assist Head of Mechanical Maintenance to ensure the contractual, technical and commercial targets are met.
- Ensure proper and effective maintenance of the Power Station (mechanical portion), considering commercial aspects and in accordance with safety, environmental and legal regulations.
- Assist Head of Mechanical Maintenance to manage the mechanical maintenance of the Power Station so that all requirements are identified, documented, planned, scheduled and carried out correctly, and that a history of details of work carried out is available in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensure that identification of maintenance requirements has considered the need to achieve the required plant availability, reliability and performance at the lowest cost to the company.
- Ensure that work instructions are in place, reviewed regularly and adhered to by mechanical section staff. Prepare work instructions and proof read / review those prepared by subordinates.
- Maintain a high safety conscious working environment and ensure compliance with all company and legislative Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) requirements.
- Identification of training requirements and development of subordinates. Where required, to conduct internal trainings to subordinates.
- Review of the spares and tools holding.
- Assist in the assessment and review of external contractors or suppliers where necessary.
- Ensure that the correct Systems Applications and Products (SAP) codes are used for spare parts and services procured for the mechanical sections.
- Work with other members of the team to maintain good relations with the client and other parties.
- Train, develop and guide staff, and periodically assess their ability and potential.
- Liaise with the relevant parties to ensure that planned outages of equipment are supported with the correct tools, equipment, resources and procedures.
- Comply with all applicable SHEQ legal requirements and our stakeholders’ specifications by establishing policies, programmes and practices in order to conduct operations in a healthy, safe and environmentally sound manner with safety first, quality foremost & pursuing excellence.
- To perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish the company overall objectives, which may be assigned from time to time.
Qualification and Competency (License)
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
Work Experience
- Minimum years of working experience related to the work scope: 7 years working experience.
- Experience in combine cycle power plant maintenance.
- Excellent knowledge of Mechanical Engineering practices, functions and processes involved in Power Station Mechanical maintenance.
- Good leadership skills.
- Knowledge in applicable legal requirements, including but not limited to Inspection, Health and Safety requirements.
- A good understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Some knowledge in budgeting and SAP.
Skills and Behaviour Traits
- Hands on with analytical skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Good verbal and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Good leadership skills.
Note: This is a 4-year fixed term contract role.
