Job summary

A major international bank in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a professional for their Corporate Actions team. The role involves processing corporate events accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with operational standards. Candidates should have at least 12 months of Securities experience and must be fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. Strong interpersonal skills are also essential for building relationships. This is an opportunity to contribute to an essential asset servicing function for institutional and retail clients.

Corporate Actions is an asset servicing function mainly providing services to institutional clients and retail clients in a domestic market. As a direct custodian, team is responsible in efficient and timely broadcast of corporate events to clients, processing of instructions, computing entitlements and processing corporate event payment. Common corporate event processed includes but not limited to cash dividend, bonus shares, rights issues, proxy meeting, take over, merger, interest, redemption and conversion to name a few.

The Opportunity:

  • Opportunity to learn and understand the various types of corporate events and its life cycle.
  • Job holder is responsible for day to day processing of corporate events in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the input agent for the operations and ensure all allocated corporate events are processed within the required timeframes, all instructions are processed within required deadlines, processing performed as per operational manuals, any deviations are to be reported immediately to Manager and full adherence to team’s control functions and end of day checklists/requirements.
  • To ensure prompt escalation (as per escalation matrix) to the Manager for all matters which may present a potential financial loss or client service concern.
  • To demonstrate critical and analytical skills that include the ability to analyses information and generating ideas/solution for decision making based on available references.
  • Provide support to team members on operational activities to ensure all aspects of team activities are satisfactorily covered.
  • Change Management. Effectively drive and manage change to achieve business goals. (e.g.: process improvements/changes in procedures).
Qualifications
  • Acquire a broad understanding of all the Corporate Action processes and market specifications for various markets assigned.
  • Possess relevant Securities background and knowledge at least 12 months of Securities experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills and networking abilities in building relationships with people at all levels.
  • Ability to read, write, understand Mandarin and Cantonese fluently is mandatory.
  • Experience in Securities processing environment. Knowledge in Corporate Actions, Trade Settlement, Cash Payments/FXs in Global Custody or Direct Custody businesses is an added advantage.
