The Accounts Executive is responsible for handling day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Maintain full set of accounts including AP, AR, GL, and bank reconciliations
- Record daily financial transactions accurately and timely
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
- Maintain proper filing of accounting documents
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process supplier invoices and verify accuracy and supporting documents
- Prepare payment vouchers and arrange payments (cheque or online transfer)
- Monitor outstanding payables and ensure timely settlement
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Issue official receipts, invoices, credit notes, and debit notes
- Monitor customer payments and follow up on overdue accounts
- Prepare aging reports and liaise with sales department on collections
Banking and Cash Management
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Monitor cash flow and petty cash transactions
- Liaise with banks on banking matters when required
- Prepare monthly financial reports and schedules
- Assist in management accounts and variance analysis
- Support year-end closing and audit processes
Taxation and Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and submit SST or GST (if applicable), withholding tax, and other statutory filings
- Assist in corporate tax computations and tax schedules
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax laws
Audit and Documentation
- Assist external auditors, tax agents, and company secretary
- Ensure proper documentation and internal controls
Administrative and Ad-hoc Duties
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting exercises
- Support finance-related projects and system improvements
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant working experience in accounting
- Fresh graduates may be considered
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of full set accounting
- Familiar with accounting software such as AutoCount or IFCA
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting documentation
- Basic understanding of Malaysian tax and statutory requirements
Soft Skills and Attributes
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Responsible, independent, and able to work under minimal supervision
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Language
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin, English and or Bahasa Malaysia is an added advantage
Working Conditions
- Office-based role
- 5-day full-time work week, Saturday half day
- Overtime may be required during month-end or year-end closing
