1:1 Teaching Assistant

Location: Erdington, Birmingham

Duration: Full time, on-going

Salary: £85 – £95 per day

The School/role:

An amazing special needs school in Erdington, Birmingham are currently looking for a fulltime 1:1 teaching assistant to work within one of their many classes from ages ranging from 5 to 11 years old. This is a Primary Special School for cognition and learning with a range of special educational needs; cognition and learning difficulties are the children’s primary needs, additional needs include speech and language and autistic spectrum condition.

This will include supporting teachers with material preparation for lessons, assisting with displays and providing direct 1 on 1 or small group student support. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience supporting students either 1 on 1 or within small groups with their reading, writing or maths dependant upon situation. PECS and Makaton training or experience would be suitable for the teaching assistant role but not necessary. This is a full-time post and will run until the end of the academic year.

The candidate for this role will be comfortable supporting SEN children alongside children with a range of different academic attainment levels. This will require patience, commitment and the ability to provide a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant background
• Experience in SEN
• Immediately available
• Level 1 safeguarding certificate
• Relevant school based references
• Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
• Full DBS – on the update service
