Nurse Team Manager - AMU

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager - AMU who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. We are looking for a highly-skilled clinical nurse with overall responsibility for the operational management of clinical service delivery at department level, working in partnership with the PSM as an integral part of the nurse management team.

The Nurse Team Manager will be responsible for implementing measurable and accountable models of care to ensure consistently high standards of safe patient care.

You will also lead on the development and implementation of directorate policies that support the continuous improvement of patient care and service delivery at ward and departmental level.

The post holder will work collaboratively with senior colleagues and key stakeholders to support service development and redesign initiatives wherever possible.

The successful candidate will also be expected to challenge behaviours that undermine equality and diversity, in line with the principles of the Human Rights Act.

In addition, the Nurse Team Manager will work closely with the operational team to improve patient flow, and with the senior leadership team to support the achievement of Trust objectives.

• Registered nurse on part 1 of the NMC register
• Relevant clinical post registration education to include a recognized Mentorship qualification
• Evidence of ongoing professional development through professional profile
• Managerial and leadership qualification / relevant experience
• ATLS, ALS, ILS and ATNC
• Relevant degree or working towards Degree

• Registered Nurse with proven recent experience at Band 6 in the acute specialty setting
• Evidence of an understanding in expenditure and budget management
• Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings with patients, relatives, carers, senior leaders and other members of staff of varying levels of understanding
• Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences
• Cross specialty experience at band 6

• Ability to communicate effectively at a complex level - excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent clinical knowledge and skills, ability to detect deterioration and manage accordingly
• Ability to advocate for all patients, particularly vulnerable patients
• Ability to manage self and others in delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet departmental expectations
• Demonstrable understanding of professional nursing issues
• Demonstrate strong leadership and motivational skills, ability to lead and motivate large clinical team
• Demonstrate a flexible approach, able to react to the changing needs of the department ensuring sustainability
• Ability to engage with management and staff, demonstrating excellent negotiating skills to enable high quality service delivery
• Demonstrate sound organisational skills and ability to work effectively in a devolved management structure
• Performance management skills, including understanding of and invoking disciplinary procedure
• Ability to work on own initiative and autonomously
• Ability to be adaptive and responds well in times of stress
• Triage skills and competency
• Research and development including presentation at national and international conferences
