You will be expected to deliver both elective and non-elective surgical services and contribute to research, teaching, and clinical governance activities.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Consultant Urological Surgeon to join our urology team, predominantly based at the Royal London Hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for a surgeon who is passionate about urology and interested in developing a subspecialty in robotic reconstruction and functional urology.

• MBBS or equivalent
• FRCS (Urol) or equivalent
• CCT (or within 6 months of date of interview

• Broad-based knowledge of all aspects of urological surgery

• Competent in all core urology procedures
• Subspecialty experience in functional and female urology
• Evidence of working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Teaching and training of under- and post-graduate medical staff
• Experience of research
• Training in open and robotic reconstructive urology

• Able to provide evidence of clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of impact and challenges this brings
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current and future NHS challenges and strategy
• Ability to support team members in business planning via collaboration and discussion
• Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare
• Management course

• Ability to demonstrate personal experience of academic research and describe and discuss findings and impact
• Experience of research, presentation to learned societies on topics related to surgery
• Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical/surgical problems
• Demonstrate number of first name publications in indexed journals, over a variety of subjects relevant to this post
• Ability to supervise post-graduate research

• Experience teaching and training undergraduates, resident doctors and allied professionals

• Excellent presentation and verbal skills
• IT skills and computer literacy
• Ability to manage time well to deliver objectives of the CSG
• Awareness of best practice through evidence-based medicine, and personal drive to enact the change with the team

• Self-motivated with an enquiring, critical approach to work
• Ability to work under pressure Caring attitude to patients
• Willingness to challenge the norm in a positive manner while building a team ethos, to deliver consistently high levels of care for patients in a productive and cost-effective manner
• Ability to drive change through collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders
• Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level
