Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Glasgow

An career development opportunity is available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Galliford Try team within our Joint Venture ESD in Glasgow.

Joining a busy commercial team, the successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will work on high value Scottish Water projects across the Central Belt (including Glasgow), East of Scotland (up to Inverness) and the Islands. Collaborating across the Joint Venture and delivering at a high standard, this role is vital in tracking and forecasting expenditure across Scottish Water projects in a fast paced and time sensitive environment.

This role will give you exposure to NEC contracts in a Principle Contractor environment working on high value projects with exposure to systems including CEMAR, Oracle and Unifer.

What you will be doing:

You will work on our Scottish Water Frameworks within our ESD Joint Venture, who are experienced in successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes, predominately to the Water Industry, across both Treatment Waste and Water schemes.

We're seeking a highly proactive and dynamic individual to drive the commercial performance of the Operating Unit, ensuring the budgeted financial goals are achieved as set out by the business.

It will be your role to ensure robust risk management principles are instilled across the commercial team.

To be successful in the role, you'll have a keen attention to detail in cost control, contract/change management and an unwavering focus on maintaining a cash positive position.

Working closely with the commercial team and Project leads, it will be down to you to ensure the correct project controls are in place across all disciplines and reporting regularly to the Commercial Manager.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for overseeing material and subcontract procurement and ensuring the correct governance is applied and ensure that monthly CVR's and commercial reports are accurately reported to the required deadlines.

Your role forms an essential link in the supply chain, liaising with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required. You'll show flexibility, resilience, and the ability to influence and build relationships. Demonstrating strong ethical standards with openness and honesty.

You'll play a pivotal role in weekly progress and risk reduction meetings, producing, submitting, and agreeing monthly applications, to the Client and presenting detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation's (CVR) and 'Cost Plans', tracking and forecasting expenditure and liabilities as required by the business unit or project.

About You:

Alongside your relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment, we'd like you to have experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes with solid knowledge of construction processes. A professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member or working towards full membership is desirable.

To be successful in the role, you'll have an astute appreciation of standard forms of contract with strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Asite, Oracle).

You will thrive when working with stakeholders across all levels, coupled with your ability to truly understand our business from a commercial standpoint, demonstrating Strong working knowledge of standard forms of contract, in particular the NEC3/4 suite of Contracts.
