Job Title: Shift Manager
As a Shift Manager, you will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Operations Manager in the day-to-day running of the warehouse. Your responsibilities include maintaining all aspects of Health & Safety within the Warehouse and ensuring products are picked and dispatched to the highest standards to meet contractual KPI’s.
Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off Days 06:00-18:00
What will you be doing as a Shift Manager?
- Manage and motivate the shift team to achieve or exceed productivity and service KPI’s.
- Uphold the highest levels of health, safety, and hygiene, ensuring compliance with legislative and quality standards, and that relevant paperwork is completed and retained.
- Maintain high standards of Quality and compliance, ensuring the site meets Audit standards.
- Deliver communication briefings to keep all shifts informed of company and local issues, encouraging input and involvement from employees.
- Manage Goods Inwards to ensure quick receipt of goods without damage, ensuring stock availability.
- Develop team members to maximize their contributions and implement succession planning.
- Conduct disciplinary and grievance interviews in line with company procedures.
- Monitor and control sickness absence and conduct effective return-to-work interviews.
- Oversee time and attendance systems.
- Provide regular feedback on team and individual performance, highlighting good performance and areas for development.
- Plan manpower needs, including overtime and agency workers, to run shifts efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Enforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Manage training for teams, ensuring health & safety representation on shift (e.g., First Aiders, Fire Marshalls).
- Support management with ad-hoc duties within the warehouse.
Qualifications
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Effective prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Leadership skills to delegate, supervise, and motivate staff.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility in work and shift patterns.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; knowledge of WMS systems is advantageous.
- Experience in packing or e-commerce operations is beneficial.
- High attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills with suppliers and customers.
