As a Procurement Lead Officer at the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), you'll collaborate with our Senior Procurement Lead Officers and Business Partners to drive forward an ambitious, proactive and solutions-focused procurement service across the WMCA.

From working to help transform public transport, including the landmark move to a franchised bus service in May 2025, to pioneering projects in Digital & Data, Net Zero, and the Social Economy, in this role you'll gain hands-on experience in diverse, high-profile categories that really make a difference to communities across our region.

What you will be doing.
  • Provide innovative strategic advice and develop and implement appropriate procurement sourcing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers, key stakeholders and public, private and third sector suppliers.
  • Raise the profile of procurement through the increase of cross-functional team working and networking.
  • Management of the procurement portfolio for allocated support areas.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop an understanding of the need of the business to enable you to conduct and complete end to end procurement processes.
What's essential.
  • Proven experience of purchasing alongside the ability to develop procurement strategies, evaluating the best route to market ensuring both compliance and value for money.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with stakeholders to understand business needs.
  • Strategic sourcing knowledge and experience of running end to end procurement processes.
  • Demonstrable experience of stakeholder management.
  • Track record of delivering against targets.
  • Previous experience of influencing and working with senior management and stakeholders to endorse proposals, procedures and systems.
  • Previous experience of working with Public Sector procurement regulations.
Location.

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.

We advertise salary ranges, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate.
