Job summary
A prominent NHS Trust in Reading is seeking a part-time Band 5 Staff Nurse for a 12-month fixed-term role in General Outpatients. Responsibilities include delivering high standards of evidenced-based nursing care, supervising junior staff, and managing patient records. Ideal candidates should have relevant qualifications and be able to work autonomously in a diverse clinical environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team providing high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Qualified as a Staff Nurse with relevant clinical skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a nurse-led unit.
- Experience in teaching and supervising junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and deliver high standards of care.
- Teach and supervise junior staff and students.
- Manage emergency situations effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
Band 5 Staff Nurse (General Outpatients) - Part Time 33 hours per week. This is a fixed-term/secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
- Undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.
- Deliver care without direct supervision.
- Accountable for the care delivered and any omissions of care.
- Teach and supervise more junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.
- Accountable for care or any omissions of care that he/she delegates to others.
- Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Develops competences and practices relevant clinical skills required to deliver care to the patient/client group.
- Working as part of the multidisciplinary team focusing on the department team.
- Responsible for the efficient running of various outpatient clinics.
- Undertake nursing duties including: scrub nursing, leg dressings and IM injections.
- Recognises, responds to and appropriately manages emergency situations.
- Work autonomously in a nurse-led unit.
- Maintaining accurate patient records on EPR.
- To assist with ordering and maintaining the clinical area.
