Description du poste
Overview

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a physiotherapist with established paediatric musculoskeletal skills to work within the spinal and orthopaedic multidisciplinary teams at GOSH. This post provides the opportunity to join an existing spinal and orthopaedic team and take a lead role in the assessment and treatment of paediatric patients presenting with orthopaedic and spinal deformities throughout their patient journey. You will collaborate with colleagues in the spinal multidisciplinary team as well as the wider orthopaedic team, within GOSH and externally to plan, deliver and evaluate all aspects of the patient journey. Good communication skills and excellent team working abilities are essential for this post.

This post is part of an existing physiotherapy service, consisting of clinical specialists, rotational physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants. You will need well established and highly specialised skills in the assessment and treatment of paediatric patients with a complex presentation in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children is a leading tertiary centre for children with spinal disorders. You will be required to be proactive in advancing the profile of paediatric physiotherapy within orthopaedic and spinal services both in the trust and nationally.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake all aspects of your clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, managing clinical risk within your own patient caseload and environment.
  • To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessments of paediatric patients, including those with a complex presentation and respiratory complications, using highly specialised investigative and analytical skills and to formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using advanced clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of highly specialised treatment skills and options to formulate a programme of care
  • Following assessment, you will be responsible for evaluating patient progress, reassessing and altering treatment programmes, with specific emphasis on patients under the care of the spinal surgery service.
  • To offer highly specialised opinion, regarding diagnosis and best management using evidence based medicine for patients with complex needs. Where appropriate this may include assessment of children attending outpatients' clinics or to be available to provide this advice over the phone or email.
