About Discord

With 90% of users identifying as gamers, and 1.5 billion hours spent monthly on the platform, Discord is at the forefront of the future of digital social interaction. Our mission: to make it easier and more fun to talk and hang out—before, during, and after games.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Regulatory Counsel to join Discord’s legal team. Reporting to the VP & Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Regulatory Compliance, you’ll shape and lead our legal engagement strategy across the EU/UK and Australia, primarily focused on online safety, content moderation, and emerging regulations. This position can be based in London, England or Amsterdam, Netherlands and is employed via an international PEO.

This is a dynamic opportunity for someone energized by evolving legal landscapes and fast-paced environments. If you thrive on complexity and impact, you’ll find yourself at home here.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead Discord’s regulatory responses in the EU/UK and Australia, assessing risks/opportunities and drafting compelling, accurate submissions.
  • Engage with regulators, articulating Discord’s compliance posture and approach to online safety.
  • Partner with Product Counsel on compliance matters and product feature implications.
  • Stay ahead of evolving laws and identify emerging enforcement risks.
  • Support safety communications strategy in collaboration with Public Policy and Comms teams.
  • Maintain a library of templates and standard positions on privacy, safety, and compliance.
  • Potentially manage small-scale consumer-related claims and other defensive matters depending on workload.
What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of regulatory legal experience related to Internet law (user safety, privacy, data protection, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • UK & Australian Online Safety Acts
  • EU Digital Services Act
  • GDPR, AI Act, and broader consumer/data protection regulations.
  • Track record of successful engagements with regulatory bodies across UK, EU, or Australia.
  • Experience crafting regulatory submissions and responding to agency requests.
  • Licensed to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • Background in social media, gaming, communications, or content platforms.
  • Skilled in prioritizing and project management, with strong emotional intelligence and collaborative spirit.
  • Committed to values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Bonus Points
  • Familiarity with Discord and the gaming industry
  • Experience in litigation or defending platform-related consumer matters
Why Join Discord?

We’re a community-driven company that believes in the power of play and connection. At Discord, you’ll work with people who are just as passionate about building meaningful online spaces as they are about boss fights, streaming sessions, or music jams. Join a platform that supports creativity, diversity, and fun.
