About the role

Location: Spain - Home office friendly.

As a Senior Backend Engineer specializing in high-performance systems, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the backbone of Fever's live-entertainment platform. We're seeking someone with proven software development excellence, a keen eye for code quality, and a drive to get things done right. What will you do at Fever?

On your first month in Fever:

1. Fully integrate into the team and participate in planning, grooming, and retrospectives.
2. Familiarize yourself with Fever's tech stack, CI/CD workflows, and operational infrastructure.
3. Good vision about the main systems, points of failure and framework to identify performance gaps.
4. Attend Fever Original experiences like Candlelight.

After 3 months in Fever:

1. Propose solutions to new challenging problems, from architecture design to implementation.
2. Create production-grade Python code designed to handle high levels of traffic.
3. Participate in hackathons and build strong relationships with the engineering team.

On your 6th month in Fever:

1. Take on responsibilities for different parts of the system, analyzing user usage and evolving the platform.
2. Mentor team members through code reviews, architecture design sessions, and pair programming.
3. Participate in team-building activities and events.
4. Responsible for redesigning one of our major workflows to improve scalability, performance and geographical distribution.

About you

Must have skills:

1. Strong knowledge of good practices, testing, and design patterns.
2. Proficiency in business English.
3. Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, taking it to its limits (ideally PostgreSQL).
4. Proficiency in using Datadog or other similar profiling tools and monitoring systems.

Ideally, experience with:

1. Python (Django/Flask).
2. Redis.
3. Event communication between services. Celery with RabbitMQ.
4. Handling services with more than 1000 requests/second.
5. AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

About the process

Fever aims to provide the best-fastest possible experience to our candidates. This is how it would look like:

1. Talent Interview - 1h: An intro to Fever, our culture and a conversation about your background and experience.
2. Engineering Manager Interview - 1h: A deep dive into your technical expertise and your opportunity to ask anything you need to know about your day to day at Fever.
3. Technical Assignment: Your opportunity to demonstrate all you know! We would like to receive it back within 3 days.
4. Team Interview - 1.5h: A discussion about your proposed solution to the technical challenge and your chance to make sure you know everything you need about Fever.
