Clinical Coordinator, Patient and Family Counselling Services

The Clinical Coordinator, Patient and Family Counselling Services, reports to the Regional Services Clinical Manager and collaborates with the Psychosocial Oncology Communities of Practice (PSO COP) to provide a province-wide approach for clinical services, education, community engagement, and research in psychosocial oncology. Develops evidence-based practices and programs, overseeing planning, implementation, and evaluation of regional clinical services. Supervises Health Sciences Professionals, providing clinical direction and staff evaluation. Performs clinical, educational, community engagement, research, and administrative duties.

1. Implement and coordinate the psychosocial oncology program regionally by setting annual goals aligned with provincial priorities for patient and family services.
2. Provide clinical supervision and consultation to Patient and Family Counselling staff.
3. Manage operational duties including work schedules, vacation and leave approvals, and time record submissions.
4. Recruit staff, conduct performance appraisals, and participate in disciplinary processes with HR support.
5. Develop and monitor the budget for Patient and Family Counselling in collaboration with the Regional Services Clinical Manager.
6. Collaborate with PSO COP to develop, implement, and communicate evidence-based practice standards, guidelines, procedures, and clinical tools.
7. Maintain professional standards related to training, staff education, quality management, workload, patient care, and research.
8. Create and implement clinical programs, resources, and services aligned with regional and provincial priorities.
9. Provide counseling to patients and families on psychosocial concerns through various session formats.
10. Offer consultation to interdisciplinary team members on psychosocial issues.
11. Assess patient and family needs, making referrals or developing support strategies.
12. Participate as a member of the Psychosocial Oncology Communities of Practice.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field from a recognized program.
• At least five years of experience in an interdisciplinary healthcare setting, including two in an administrative or supervisory role; oncology experience preferred.
• Eligible for registration with the relevant professional regulatory body.
• Deep understanding of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples, with a commitment to anti-racism, Indigenous Cultural Safety, and humility.
• Knowledge of legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous rights and anti-racism efforts, including key documents and acts listed.
