General Responsibilities

• All work must be performed in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with Company policy, local, provincial and / or federal rules and regulations and the Collective Agreement;
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
• Awareness and understanding of Environmental Policy (ISO 14001) and Quality Policy (TS 16949) guidelines and how the position’s responsibilities impacts on environment and quality;
• Shows leadership to the workforce by decision-making, motivational efforts, fairness and consistency so that employees are aware of their performance and importance in the department;
• Ensures personnel performing work affecting product quality are competent on the basis of ongoing training, appropriate education, skills and experience;
• Performs other duties as required by Manager / Supervisor to keep pace with changes in the scope of work.

Specific Responsibilities

• Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and can be directed by Maintenance and operation supervisors;
• Responsible for keeping equipment safe and reporting any unsafe practices;
• Completes assigned work in a timely manner;
• Responsible for troubleshooting, assessing and rectifying breakdowns;
• Shows initiative in the constant improvement of process and safety;
• Responsible for the preventative maintenance on assigned equipment;
• Keeps work areas clean and safe;
• Records time and specifics in the maintenance log book and starts / ends downtime in the production system;
• Has hydraulic experience and is able to troubleshoot hydraulic systems;
• Reads and deciphers blueprints pertaining to equipment and building;
• Reports issues identified on equipment pertaining to electrical or mechanical matters unless within scope;
• Other duties, as assigned.

• Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent
• Must possess a 433A license in Ontario

• Must possess valid forklift with propane handling certification;
• Certified crane operation;
• Must successfully complete lock-out and fall arrest training;
• Must successfully complete aerial lift training;
• Recommended : WHMIS

• Good communication (read and comprehend instructions);
• Organizational and dexterity skills;
• Attention to detail;
• Computer skills;
• Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic and architectural schematics;
• Proficient mechanical background;
• Problem solving skills;
• Knowledge of components and materials used in the production process.
