About the Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Sr. Manager to lead our Platform Development team. You will be a critical engineering leader, responsible for guiding the team that builds and operates the foundational, cloud-native services at the heart of the Synthesis Health ecosystem. You will focus on driving the team's technical strategy, operational excellence, and professional growth, enabling our product teams to build innovative features for our customers with velocity, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team: Build, lead, and mentor a team of talented platform developers. You will be responsible for hiring, performance management, and creating career development plans that foster technical and professional growth, ensuring your engineers collaborate effectively as key partners to the cross-functional product teams they support.

· Drive Platform Strategy and Vision: Partner with senior technical leaders (including Staff Developers) and product stakeholders to define and execute the roadmap for our core platform. Drive architectural improvements to enhance scalability, performance, and reliability.

· Ensure Operational Excellence and Execution: Take ownership of the health and performance of our production platform services. You will guide the team in establishing best practices for observability, incident management, and ensuring our critical systems meet stringent uptime and performance SLAs.

· Foster Engineering Excellence: Cultivate a strong engineering culture focused on quality, scalability, and operational rigor. You will refine engineering processes, manage technical debt,

and ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable platform components.

· Collaborate and Influence Across Software Development: Work closely with leaders from Application Development, DevOps, and AI to understand their needs and ensure the platform provides the leverage and capabilities required for their success. Represent your team's strategy and needs to senior leadership.

What We're Looking For:

· Proven Software Development Leadership: 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a people management role leading platform, infrastructure, or backend development teams.

· Deep Technical Acumen: A strong technical background in designing, building, and operating complex, scalable, and high-performance distributed systems. You must have the credibility to lead and challenge a team of senior developers.

· Strategic and Architectural Vision: The ability to think abstractly and contribute to long-term architectural planning. You can translate a high-level vision into a concrete, actionable roadmap for your team.

· Expertise with Modern Tech Stacks: A strong understanding of the principles and technologies behind our platform:

o Microservices, event-driven design, and distributed architectures.

o Cloud platforms (GCP preferably), with hands-on experience in Docker and Kubernetes.

o Expertise across relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).

o Real-world experience with Pub/Sub messaging systems (e.g., Google Cloud Pub/Sub, Kafka).

· Excellent Communication and Influence Skills: You can clearly articulate a complex technical vision and strategy to a wide range of audiences, from engineers on your team to executive stakeholders.

· A Passion for Developing People: You have a demonstrated ability to hire, coach, and grow senior engineers and technical leaders, building a cohesive and motivated team.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Healthcare Domain Experience: Your application will stand out if you have experience leading teams in regulated industries. Deep familiarity with healthcare data standards (DICOM, HL7) and compliance regulations (HIPAA) is a significant advantage.

· Experience in a High-Growth Environment: Experience scaling teams and platforms in a fast-paced, product-driven company.

· Experience Managing Senior/Staff Developers: A track record of successfully managing and leveraging very senior individual contributors.

Compensation and Benefits

Synthesis Health has a location-based compensation plan. Compensation is paid in the currency of the country where the individual resides. For Canadian applicants the salary range is $130,000 - $165,000 CAD.

Other benefits include, but are not limited to: Medical, Dental, Vision, “Use as needed” vacation policy, and participation in our employee option program.
