AVAILABLE POSITIONS:
1. Indigenous Student Support Worker - Sherwood Park base (base location subject to change - circuit position with travel required)
2. Indigenous Student Support Worker - Base Location to be determined - serving Northside, Victoria South and Victoria North Families of Schools (circuit position with travel required)
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 6.5hours daily (flexible schedule including some evening and weekend hours may be required)
WORK TERM: Permanent regular positions (working 10 months per year)
RATE OF PAY: $32.87 per hour
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of2-yearspost-secondary education in a related program (diploma/degree program in education, social services, psychology, social work, criminal justice, Indigenous/Mi'kmaqStudies, or equivalent)
An equivalent combination of related education/training and related experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma/degree program
POSITION SCOPE:
The Student Support Worker - Indigenouswill be available for students who are racially, culturally and socially “at risk”. Their primary role will be to monitor and provide support to these students and their families, as well as be the liaison between the school and the Mi'kmaq community. The overall objective will be to help these students achieve positive educational experiences, experience success and remain in school. The Student Support Worker reports to the Principal and the Coordinator of Mi'kmaq Education Services who will organize regular meetings and coordinate ongoing professional development for the Student Support Worker.
