A community care organization is seeking a Home Helper to provide essential homemaking services to individuals in their homes. Responsibilities include light housekeeping, meal preparation, and providing companionship. Ideal candidates will have experience working with seniors or disabled individuals and hold a current CPR and First Aid certification. This casual position requires a high school graduate with strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The Home Helper provides homemaking services to individuals and families in the home or at the time of discharge from hospital according to the framework of VON policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. The Home Helper collaborates with members of the health care team in meeting the needs of individuals to attain an optimal level of independence and wellbeing.
This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements
