Job description

Support Companion required for 2 young adult males who are mentally handicapped but physically active, strong verbal skills and love sports. Looking for someone who is punctual, communicates well, is very responsible and self-motivated, has a positive attitude, loves to walk, has a good sense of humour and likes or knows about country music. NOTE: Must have reliable vehicle and clean driving record.

Duties include support in their residence and out in the community, household cleaning, daily exercise program, playing games, and most of all being a good friend. Must be able to prepare simple meals when required. Daily community outings for stimulation and socializing are a must.

Ability to work cooperatively with a male coworker as a team and independently.

This position requires working Monday to Friday 9 am. – 4 or 4:30 pm., except until up to 8 pm. on Fridays. Also, the odd evenings and overnights including possibly the odd weekend throughout the year. Two weeks of paid vacation per year.

Job Requirements

PSW certificate and CPR training would be an asset but not necessary. Previous experience in a group home environment would be an asset but again not necessary.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and to be worthy of the trust required to provide personal services in the client’s residence.

Must be a non-smoker.
